When you’re playing a quality team like OVAC 3-A leader Barnesville (9-0) you’ve got to bring your “A” game. The Tiger bats were hot once again on Thursday evening and scattered 14 hits offensively. However, two things that have hurt the orange and black from time to time this season have been fielding errors and not being able to advance base runners. Shadyside left 8 runners stranded over 7 innings and hurt themselves with 3 ore errors in this game.
“Defensively, we just didn’t bring it,” said Tiger Head Coach Shawn Selmon. “When you come out here and face a team like Barnesville that’s been on fire and hits the ball well, there’s no room for error. We just couldn’t execute when we needed to and they did. They did a good job. These kids are never out of a game, even when they get down. They don’t have that quit in them. We’re trying to wash it out of their heads. But, sometimes, we just can’t get that timely hit when we need it. We’ve struggled with runners in scoring position at times.
