Records are made to be broken. Some records are longstanding but STILL made to be broken. Such was the case a couple of weeks ago on a Tuesday evening during the OVTL Championships at Fleming Field. Senior boys distance ace, Chase Stewart and junior girls discus hurler Kaylee Savage busted up two school records.
Stewart broke the longstanding 3200 meter run record held by George Antalis since 1984 when he ran it with a time of 9:38. Stewart would shave off a second and cross the finish line at 9:37.05
Savage would also clip the discus standard set by the school’s current Treasurer, Melissa Visnic, when she tossed the plate 110′ 4″ in 1989. Savage would throw a toss of 111′ 2.”
On the girls side, Linsly would win the competition with 177 points while the Lady Tigers would finish second with 129.50 points.
Competing on the boys side, Harrison Central would edge the Tiger boys for the championship. The Huskies would edge the Tigers 177-157
