You know their capabilities. You know they can explode in an instant. So you just sit and wait for the explosion to come. Such was the case in New Martinsville on Wednesday night as the Blue Eagle kept within striking distance of the Lady Tigers until the last inning.
With Shadyside on top 4-1 going into the seventh inning, the gates opened and the flood waters came rushing in. The Tigers put together a a 13 run inning in the seventh to widen the score to 17-1. Sophomore sensation Kaitlyn Weaver once again took to the mound for the Lady Tigers and struck out nine batters and walked one through six solid innings of work.
Through the onslaught, Weaver also contributed three singles and a triple. Her battery mate, Lindsey Dunn came up a triple shy of hitting for the cycle with a single, double and home run. Junior Karly Klug also contributed to the run fest with a home run, single and double as well.
Kayla Smith had a double. Jaelynn Greenwood and Hayleigh Osman each contributed two singles.
